Iron Blog
So as days roll by with very little action, I don't want to try and spice up things, but I don't want the blog to go by without noticed, because that's how I'll lose touch with it. Plus I like the movie posters! So, if these seem short, it's not because they are rushed, it's because the day was slow.
DARCY: Still clicking away on the calculator, figuring our costs and times for the trip. Her mom called today, and I guess there was a problem with the time frame of when the kids would be watched. We did a little re-arranging, and everything is back on track. Still getting married the 27th, but we will be back a little sooner. No biggie.
MY KIDS: Meant to call Madeleine tonight, we're gonna have to change the day of getting together. Really look forward to spending some time with her. Rinoa seems to have settled the fight she was having with a boy on the bus. For some reason, the boy came up to our house today and said that Rinoa was real good on the bus. Previously he had been tattling on her. Hope I'm not missing something here.
FAMILY & FRIENDS: Had a nice chat with my sister on the phone. She led me to a book called The Shack by Wm. Paul Young, or William P. Young...not sure what he goes by cause different books appear differently. Anyway, it felt good to fall into the old conversations that we once had. I remember being able to discuss books and movies in a much deeper sense with her back in the way back. So I'll have to get my hands on a copy of this so we can discuss it when Darcy and I visit!
BIG FOUR: I am all Iron Manned Up. Today we were bombarded by Iron Man 2 merch at Wal-Mart, and you know what? I didn't feel like running. Probably because I am totally convinced this will be far better than the first, and the first was pretty damn good. Iron Man, Spider-Man, Batman Begins...These movies set us up with an origin story, but the problem that it has holding up with the sequel is screen time. It takes forever before we see our hero movin' and groovin' in front of us (it took over an hour before we actually saw Iron Man!), so then the sequel comes along, and we open with our masked avenger ready to hog the screen for the whole movie! I get why origin movies are important, but with the limited screen time, they almost seem like mini-movies. I personally like the second movies to watch over and over. And so, with Iron Man, not only do we inherit a fully armored iron-clad adventure synced to AC/DC, but we get War Machine as well. Plus, I've always been a fan of Mickey Rourke and Don Cheadle, so you can imagine that this movie has me on the edge of my seat. There WILL be two hours on my honeymoon reserved for this (yes, Darcy is excited too). Not really news worthy, but that's because I didn't want to give away the cameos....
Looks like a Sith Warrior was sent for Iron Man....
Now that Leverage is behind us, it's back to the random for a bit. Today I watched an episode of Dead Zone, and almost finished Bones before my sister called. Still trying to set up the perfect time for Avatar. From what I've read, this is THE best Blu-Ray transfer, so we're trying to make sure it's the perfect time for viewing. Darcy and I got to see this in the theater, so I do know first hand how amazing it is. I can't figure out if Dallas is excited about watching it, or just excited that he can say the word. After hearing news reports that a lot of people couldn't play their movie, we tested ours (it works), and the whole time during a five minute scene, Dallas rocked back and forth in front of the TV and said, "That's Avatar!" over and over. Soon enough, young Padawan....
RANDOM INTERNET: Been meaning to read some of the classics? Jules Verne, Mark Twain, Charles Dickens? Here's a link to get some of these and more as free ebooks!
